If you were working on a project and have leftover bags of ready-mix concrete you do not have to throw the bags away. This is because there are many things you can use the concrete for around your home. To help you get started, below are two of these things so you can put the ready-mix concrete to good use.
Flower Garden Edging
If you have a flower garden in your yard but it has no edging on it, grass and weeds can easily creep into the flower garden. Once this happens it can be hard to keep up with these two things and your flower garden will not look as nice.
To help prevent this from happening to you, you can use the ready-mix concrete to make an edging around the flower garden. To do this you first need to dig a trench around the perimeter of the flower garden using a shovel. Put a two to three-inch layer of gravel into the trench and level the gravel out. Mix up the concrete and pour it into the trench. Level out the concrete with a trowel and wait for it to dry. The concrete will block anything from growing into the flower garden.
You can also color the concrete with a powder that you can purchase at a home improvement store, if you prefer. This can give the concrete an interesting color.
If you would like to have a walkway in your yard you can use the ready-mix concrete to make this. You may want a walkway that leads to something in your yard, such as a bench, table, or your patio. If the walkway you are putting in is not long, you could do this on your own to save money.
If you do not want to make an entire walkway you could make stepping stones with the concrete. There are molds that you can purchase online or at home improvement stores. These molds come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so you can create an interesting walking with stepping stones. The molds come with complete instructions on how to use them. The stepping stones can simply be laid on top of the ground by removing the soil where you want to lay them. The grass can grow between the stones to make them look appealing.
